Ready for some Flea action

Got my “flea” shipment in today. :)

Since I’ll be setting up my pop-up store this Saturday at a flea market where people hunt down the best bargains, I decided it was better for me to bring in a cheaper range of products to better cater to the crowd there. I’ll still bring in some mainstay items but I’ve reasoned that participating in this flea will mostly be a platform for me to get my shop’s name out. Let’s hope for the best! ;)

If you’ll be popping by this Saturday, here are some coupons for you. Do help to spread the word around!

Be Be Your Love, by Rachael Yamagata

So I Wish I Can Dance

It’s summer TV programming in the US now which means… So You Think You Can Dance is back! Yay! :D

I never watched Season 1, and only sporadically watched Seasons 2 and 3… although my few viewings were enough for me to develop plenty of love and admiration for wonderful dancers like Travis Wall, Allison Holker, Neil Haskell and Hok Konishi. But Season 4 sealed my love affair for SYTYCD and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Seeing these people dance, I am constantly in awe of the way the human body can move to music; so much that I wish I had taken dance lessons when I was younger. :( Not only that, the show has also introduced me to a whole plethora of music I’d never heard before. Aaaannnd, more superficially importantly, it started a little trend of what I call my SYTYCD boyfriends.

It all started in Season 4, where Mark Kanemura danced this number with his partner, Chelsie Hightower:

Then he did this with Courtney Galiano and I was reduced to a puddle of goo:

Season 5 came along and I got a bit greedy, declaring Jason Glover and Kupono Aweau to be my SYTYCD boyfriends. Because seriously? How do you expect me to pick one when they did these two incredible routines?

With Season 6, I found my ultimate SYTYCD boyfriend who was clear right from the start. It was always gonna be you, Jonathan “Legacy” Perez. People, just look at this B-Boy doing Contemporary, yo!

And I dare you to tell me he was not hot doing the Paso Doble:

Here, he shows off his b-boy moves in this Jazz number:

Finally, there’s this siiiick and intense routine with my favourite girl from the season, Ellenore Scott:

Then last season, I couldn’t stop gushing over the very handsome Robert Roldan who not only looked ridiculously good, but could also dance really, really well (alas, video embedding was disallowed):

Link 1 – Contemporary with Allison Holker
Link 2 – Contemporary with Kathryn McCormick
Link 3 – Contemporary with Lauren Froderman

In this new season, even though there’s only been one live episode so far, I have declared Marko Germar as my Season 8 SYTYCD boyfriend. Here’s why:

Breathtaking, isn’t it? But my Season 7 SYTYCD boyfriend wouldn’t leave me alone because he came back to fill in for an injured contestant and I started swooning over his handsomeness all over again:

Isn’t he absolutely beautiful to watch? ;)

Gettin’ down to business

Y’know, this whole entrepreneurial thing… it really ain’t easy.

I had my first pop-up store today much thanks to Dia who very enthusiastically brought Min and myself into her office to set up shop. As excited as we were, we were also rather overwhelmed by all the prep work we had to do. Price tags, inventory, shopping bags, loose change… the list was endless! Nonetheless, we both agreed it was a very good practice session for our main event – the Scape Flea + Pop Up Market on Saturday, 25 June.

Here is a picture of Min’s booth:

Doesn’t it look professional with the busts and all? :)

And here’s my booth:

Everything you see there is from that glorious Swede wonder otherwise known as Ikea. :) I didn’t want to lay out all my products flat on the table so I got the Rationell Variera shelves in different sizes, stacked the smaller one on the bigger one, and voila – I’ve got a multi-level display unit. They also worked quite well for storage as I could keep stuff under the shelves and restock items easily. To display my store’s name, I printed out my logo on photo paper and framed them up in the chic and inexpensive Tolsby. The effect turned out quite nicely and was prominent enough (I think?) without being too in-your-face. For the table cloths, I used a combination of the Sofia and Lenda. I purposely chose the broad black/white stripes cos I wanted something quirky, but I’m quite undecided on whether it’s a good look, although I really do like the stripes a lot.

What do you think?

Be sure to check out my store’s Facebook event page and if you’re in the area, drop by and say hi! :)
